Amenia Democrats
.
The Amenia Democratic Committee (ADC) aids the leadership of the Dutchess County Democratic Committee in understanding the issues our town is facing and also encourages and supports local Democratic candidates for Town Supervisor, Town Board, Town Clerk and Judges. Additionally, they help in identifying and supporting candidates for the County Legislature, County Executive, District Attorney, and NYS Senators and Assembly Members. Similar to other local committees in Dutchess County, the ADC serves as a valuable resource for information regarding our town and county governments.
The Committee holds monthly meetings and invites registered Democrats to join its public meetings and events. Our Meet the Candidates events at local venues provide voters the opportunity to meet Democratic candidates and understand their goals and priorities. Be sure to check back HERE for information on upcoming events.

BROOKLYN TALARICO - CANDIDATE FOR NYS ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 105
Brooklyn Talarico is a social worker, mother of three, and community advocate running for New York State Assembly in District 105. With nearly 20 years of experience serving children and families across the Hudson Valley, she has worked in schools, foster care, mental health and substance use treatment, healthcare coordination, and community-based programs throughout the region.
Brooklyn’s work has given her firsthand insight into the challenges facing working families - particularly in rural and underserved communities where access to childcare, transportation, healthcare, and educational support remains limited.
As a parent with children soon to be in elementary, middle, and high school, Brooklyn is deeply committed to strengthening public education and ensuring every family in District 105 has the support and representation they deserve.
Raised in a military family and proud of her Latina and Caribbean heritage, Brooklyn brings a lifelong commitment to service, equity, and community to her campaign.

KIM TRAVIS - CANDIDATE FOR AMENIA TOWN BOARD
I am running for a seat on the Amenia Town Board because I believe I can best represent the diverse ideas of Amenia's residents, and will work hard to ensure Amenia thrives.
I’ve lived in Amenia for 21 years, having moved here from NYC in 2005. Since then, I've enjoyed meeting my neighbors, making new, life-long friends, and quickly fell in love with this charming town and its majestic surroundings. My husband and I felt we'd hit the jackpot when we found our beautiful home in Amenia. It is everything we’d hoped for, and then some.
Here's a bit about me. I graduated from NYU in 1983, studied theatre and went on to perform, direct and produce numerous professional productions in NYC. I was a creative at STAGE PRODUCTIONS from their beginning in 2018 until they were forced to shut down due to the Covid Pandemic. I’ve been a proud Union Member of the Actors’ Equity Association as well as SAG/Aftra (Screen Actors’ Guild) for over 40 years.
As an actress, it was important to have a second line of work. So, in addition to theatre production, I was a legal secretary for a major law firm for 9 years and a secretary for The Boston Company, a financial firm, for almost a decade. I also held jobs as a bartender, life guard and swim instructor, personal trainer and Pilates Instructor. After moving to Amenia, I opened my own Pilates studio to great success. I also enjoyed teaching High School drama at Webutuck as well as coaching the track team. I am still in touch with many of my former students.
I served on the Board of Directors for The Broadway Show League for over 20 years, and am currently the secretary and fundraiser for the Baku Street Dog Rescue, which has rescued and homed over 1,500 dogs and cats over the last five years alone. I also volunteer at The Last Post Cat Sanctuary in Falls Village and The Lily Pond Sanctuary in Ghent.
I am an indefatigable worker, not adverse to ‘getting my hands dirty’. In fact, I love gardening, and proudly serve on Amenia's Enhancement Committee.
I have always been diligent in my endeavors. I come into this race with fresh eyes, enthusiasm and ideas about managed growth. Change can only happen by engaging people of various backgrounds, ages and walks of life. While we may not agree about everything, I believe we can come together for the common good. That is why I hope I can count on your support, because, if elected, you will certainly have mine.
